What a beautiful tan straw fedora! The crown is unusually shaped as shown in the photos so it is taller at the front, than in dented and shorter towards the back. The crown is surrounded by a wide grosgrain band and a large bow at the side. The front of the band has a pretty creme colored appliqué. There is also a half veil that ties towards the back.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
